The Impact of the Colonial State on African Agency: A Case Study of Gusiiland, Kenya

In particular, it focuses on how the state used law to engage with Africans, and how Africans responded to and made use of this engagement. The case study is the Gusiiland region of Kenya, where fieldwork was conducted in 2009-2010.
